Deadly plane crash in Tucson

Two people died this afternoon when the private plane they were in crashed at Tucson International Airport.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) said the twin-engine Beechcraft BE300 smashed into a blast fence and then into a parking garage east of the terminal.

John Ivanoff, the airport public safety chief, reported that the plane skidded for “some distance” before it crashed and caught on fire.

Witnesses said black smoke plumes were shooting into the sky.

Identities of the victims will be released after family members are notified.

Commercial flights were not remained on schedule, but the parking garage had to be closed.
