Funded by private sector: New luxury hotel in New York

One of the largest private-sector-fueled, tourism-based hotel developments to take place in Chautauqua County in New York has opened.

Hart Hotels and The Krog Group announced the opening of Chautauqua Harbor Hotel, a $38 million luxury property on the shores of Lake Chautauqua in Celoron. The hotel project also received partial funding from several New York State economic development agencies.

The opening of the 135-room destination hotel coincides with the debut of the National Comedy Center in nearby Jamestown. The newest addition to Buffalo-based Hart Hotels’ Harbor Hotel Collection, Chautauqua Harbor Hotel brings a new level of luxury accommodations and world-class service to the region and is expected to draw visitors from around the world.

David Hart, President and CEO of Hart Hotels, Inc., said: “We are thrilled to open Chautauqua Harbor Hotel, the fifth hotel in our Harbor Hotel Collection, and bring world-class, waterfront accommodations and conference facilities to the region. We look forward to welcoming scores of visitors who will come year-round to enjoy the spectacular beauty of Chautauqua Lake, the National Comedy Center, Lucille Ball Desi Arnaz Museum, Chautauqua Institution, and more.”

Open year-round and located on the former nine-acre site of the Celoron Amusement Park, Chautauqua Harbor Hotel features in addition to luxury rooms, dining at Lake House Tap & Grille, indoor and outdoor pools, and a state-of-the-art fitness center. The hotel’s Pier Ballroom and Conference Center offers 10,000 square feet accommodating up to 350 guests for corporate meetings and social events. A lakeside Carousel Bar, paying tribute to the grand carousels of yesteryear, is connected by footbridge to Sunset Island, an unparalleled setting for wedding ceremonies, private receptions, and performances.

Designed by Norbert Hausner of Rochester-based NH Architecture, Chautauqua Harbor Hotel features an impressive Arts and Crafts style façade with rustic stone accents, stunning grounds, and outdoor areas with inviting patios and fire pits.
