Hawaii Tourism: A million dollars lost in the mail

The Hawaii Visitors and Convention Bureau (HVCB) recently sent a US$1 million check through the US mail to an advertising agency in New York as payment for a tourism promotion.

The check, however, never made it to the agency, in fact, it never made it to New York. Instead, it was stolen and cashed in Arizona, as reported by Hawaii News Now.

The Honolulu Police are investigating the incident, but in the meantime, HVCB’s bank, First Hawaiian, will be absorbing the US$1 million loss.
