Milan Bergamo is set to welcome winter with a number of new routes and further increases to its route network during the W17/18 timetable. Leading up to the start of the season the airport has already welcomed Ernest Airlines’ twice-weekly service to Lviv on 20 October. Later on this winter the Italian low-cost carrier will further expand Milan Bergamo’s Ukrainian network by launching its twice-weekly link to Kiev Zhulyany on 9 December, with the link increasing to three times weekly during the festive season.

Ryanair continues to be an active and ever-growing airline at Milan Bergamo, commencing three services on the same day. This Sunday, 29 October, will see the airport welcome the ultra-low-cost carrier’s new links to Eilat Ovda, Tel Aviv and Plovdiv – the airline now offering 84 routes from the Lombardy gateway.

Milan Bergamo is also experiencing frequency growth on a number of existing successful routes:

• Pobeda’s link to Moscow Vnukovo goes from daily to nine times weekly on 1 December.

• Pegasus Airlines’ daily service to Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen will see another two weekly operations from 15 December.

• Blue Air’s Liverpool and Iasi seasonal links are set to continue throughout the winter for the first time.
Looking forward to the advancement of the airport’s route network, Giacomo Cattaneo, Director of Commercial Aviation, SACBO – Milan Bergamo’s operator – says: “We are always looking to build on our solid foundations. These new routes and frequency increases clearly demonstrate our commitment to offer an ever-expanding selection of airlines, great destinations and more choice and availability to our customers.”

Looking to summer…

Milan Bergamo’s winter launches follow the recent announcement that Volotea will be adding the Italian airport’s first connections to Croatia during S18 with links to Dubrovnik and Split. While also starting an additional domestic route, this time to Olbia, the summer will also see the return of the airline’s seasonal flights to Lampedusa and Pantelleria.

All set to commence next May, the Spanish low-cost carrier has confirmed twice-weekly seasonal services to Dubrovnik (28 May) and Split (25 May), while a three times weekly service to Olbia will launch on 26 May. Recording a 12% year-on-year growth in its passenger traffic from the Lombardy airport, Volotea’s new routes will see an additional 34,000 seats on offer next summer, operating more than 520 flights in total during 2018.

“We are really excited to expand our range of destinations from Milan Bergamo, in particular our first international flights from Lombardy, increasing our presence at the airport,” states Valeria Rebasti, Commercial County Manager Italy, Volotea.
