SriLankan Airlines expands service to India

SriLankan Airlines has plans to increase its network in India, where it already flies to 13 points. The island nation line has rights to fly to 25 cities.

Chinthaka Weerasinghe, Manager of Northern India of the airline, said in Delhi on November 23 that an exercise is going on to identify the new stations but no decision has been taken yet.

The load factors were over 90 percent, he said, adding that over the last decades, stations and frequencies had been boosted. He and Subhash Goyal, GSA for the line, told media at the 25th year celebrations of the Colombo-Delhi link that the line has played an important role in promoting relations between the two countries.

The manager said that MICE, weddings, and Ramayan tours were some thrust areas, apart from leisure. Goyal spoke of investment opportunities as well.

STIC Travels and SriLankan have enjoyed a very long relationship.

The line has two flights a day from Delhi, signifying the popularity of the route. Chinthaka and Sales Manager Aamir Ali said that many passengers were using the line to go on to places like Australia or Colombo.

In days to come, the love for cricket in both countries will be explored more.
