Strong earthquake strikes Japan’s Hokkaido

A strong 6.6-magnitude earthquake struck the northern Japanese island of Hokkaido early on Thursday, September 6, the United States Geological Survey said.

According to USGS, no tsunami warning was issued.

The relatively shallow earthquake hit 62 kilometres southeast of the regional capital of Sapporo.
