Tourism Society: 2017 will be our 40th Anniversary year

Gregory Yeoman is the Executive Director of U.K.based Tourism Society.  The Tourism Society is an organization for people working in tourism and travel, including educators and students, and others interested or involved in the visitor economy across all its sectors worldwide.

Since 1997 the Tourism Society has continued to drive up standards of professionalism in a fast-growing and global visitor economy.

Our events in 2016 have seen discussions on topics including ‘How tourism can change the world?’ and ‘What are the new drivers for tourism today?’ and have provoked interesting debates.

Our role is to enable individuals from across all sectors of the Visitor Economy to come together (online and offline) for discussion, debate, to share views and knowledge, and to network.

2017 will be our 40th Anniversary year, and our main focus will be on preparing our Tourism Symposium in Edinburgh, Scotland on the 5th and 6th June.

Panel debates, presentations, and discussions will cover the topics of heritage and innovation in tourism, with perspectives from the UK and abroad, and delegates will have the opportunity to join exploratory tours of the best of Edinburgh and Glasgow’s heritage new and old before enjoying an informal networking supper.

A very merry Christmas and a prosperous and peaceful New Year from all here at the Tourism Society.
