From January to November 2016 more than 30 million passengers flew from Schönefeld and Tegel. This in itself represents a new record. Passenger numbers increased by 11.3 % over the same period in the previous year. The latest traffic report contains passenger, flight and cargo numbers for November 2016 as well as the cumulative figures for the whole year, all in relation to the same periods in 2015.
Passengers: from January to November, 30,303,976 passengers flew from Schönefeld and Tegel. That’s an increase of 11.3 % over the same period in the preceding year. Some 10,619,908 passengers passed through Schönefeld, 37.6 % more than in the same period in 2015. Whilst Tegel saw 19,684,068 passengers, representing an increase of 0.9 % over the same period in the previous year.
• Flights: the combined number of flights at Schönefeld and Tegel rose to 259,897 between January and November 2016, representing an increase of 8.4 % over the same period in the preceding year. At Schönefeld, the number of flights rose to 88,483. That’s an increase of 27.8 %. At Tegel, on the other hand, 171,414 take-offs and landings were recorded, 0.5 % more than in the preceding year’s period.
• Air cargo: in total 42,615 tons of cargo were recorded between January and November, representing an increase of 8.0 % in relation to the same period of the previous year. Over the first eleven months of 2016, 8,291 tons of cargo were processed at Schönefeld (+12.6 %), whilst at Tegel the figure was 34,325 tons (+6.9 %).
• Passengers: in November 2016, 2,623,041 passengers passed through the airports Schönefeld and Tegel. That’s an increase of 7.6 % compared to the same month in the previous year. In November 959,010 passengers flew from Schönefeld (+16.1 %), at Tegel this figure was 1,664,031 (+3.2 %).
• Flights: the number of flights at Schönefeld and Tegel rose in November 2016 to 23,084 take-offs and landings, that’s an increase of 3.8 % over November 2015. At Schönefeld, the number of flights grew to 8,282 (+10.6 %). Whilst at Tegel the number of flights rose to 14,802 (+0.4 %) in November.
• Air cargo: during November 2016, 4,326 tons of cargo were recorded at Schönefeld and Tegel, representing an increase of 10.2 % over November 2015. Air cargo at Schönefeld topped 928 tons, that‘s 30.1 % more than in November 2015. Whilst at Tegel, 3,398 tons of cargo were recorded (+5.7 %).
