When you decide to go traveling, whether you want to go for months at a time, or you’re choosing a shorter one or two-week vacation, you really want to make the most of your time away. That means choosing the perfect destination for your needs and wants. There are so many places that you could pick in the world that it can feel rather daunting when it comes to picking where to go. Europe, however, is a great choice. You can choose just one European country to enjoy, but if you really want to make the most of the time you have to travel, you’ll want to try as many as possible, and here are the reasons why.

History

Europe has thousands of years of history to explore, and each different country from Spain to Italy to Greece to Bulgaria and beyond all have a story to tell. There are castles to visit such as Castel Gandolfo in Rome, and famous sights to see including the Eiffel Tower in Paris, all of which will give you a greater understanding of the country you are visiting and what it means for you to be there. By speaking to the locals, you will get an even better understanding, and joining in with a guided tour is something that can really give you the most out of your vacation time.

Architecture

If you love architecture and working out how buildings were created, then Europe has it all for you. This is where architecture really gained a hold on people’s minds, and whereas in many other places buildings were built to be practical, throughout Europe they were built to be beautiful and interesting too. What’s incredible is that, because of Europe’s long history, some of these buildings still survive whereas others have been destroyed. Therefore, you can find yourself walking down just one street and seeing many different types of architecture from many different eras. It really is fascinating.

The Cities

The cities in Europe are like no others in the world. Each one has its own unique vibe, and that is what makes traveling through Europe so exciting. You might not like one city too much, but that will never be a problem because, in a day or so, you will find yourself somewhere else that you feel much more at home in. In fact, you might like it so much that you decide to stay there for the rest of your trip, and there is nothing wrong with that. Traveling is all about making you happy and giving you the chance to experience as much as possible.

European cities have a certain elegance and class all of their own, and there is always something exciting to do there. Whether you go to the theater, head out to a club, go for a great meal, or hang out in a bar – or anything else that comes to mind – you can do it all and make your own choice as to what suits you. That’s a lot of fun, and it means you can see all kinds of wonderful things and meet all kinds of wonderful people.

Festivals

European countries love to celebrate with festivals, and it seems that no matter where you go or what time of the year you travel, you will come across something happening. The streets will be closed off to traffic, flags, and bunting will be hung out, and there will be plenty of music, dancing, and generally fun. There is usually a parade too with large floats or people dressed in traditional costumes. Street food vendors will be offering lots of choice too. It will, of course, depend on what the festival is celebrating and what the traditions are, but the overall feeling will be one of joy and exuberance, and it’s not hard to get caught up in the joy of it all.

Nightlife

If you love to party, Europe is definitely the place to go. Although it may seem serene and calm during the day thanks to the old buildings and attractions that are so popular, once night falls you will often find a different vibe happening. There are trendy clubs on many streets and lots of exciting dance bars. You might even find yourself heading out to a ‘super club’ on a dance island. Remember to always go with someone who you can trust, of course, and have as much fun as possible!

The Beach

Although not all European countries are known for their beaches, when you do head somewhere that has some great ones, make the most of them! Spain, Portugal, Italy, the south of France, Greece, and many more countries have the most wonderful of beaches to suit all tastes.

There will be some that are sandy (yellow, white, or even black sand depending on the area around) and ideal for playing or sunbathing. Others will be stony, which is great for enjoying an evening stroll in beautiful surroundings. Some will be specifically for families, others for naturists, still more for those who love water sports. Find your perfect beach, and you’ll be as happy as possible for as long as you choose to stay.

Not all beaches are going to be advertised; some will be harder to find, but this is where simply going for a walk to explore the area you’re visiting is a good idea. You might come across some ‘hidden gems’ where it is much quieter and better suited to your tastes. These are the beaches where the locals are more likely to go, but they certainly won’t mind making room for a couple of visitors either.

The Food

It might not seem possible for each European country to have its own cuisine and for them to all be so different, but that is certainly the case. Each country will have a specialty and a specific way of cooking using local ingredients and possibly ancient traditional methods. No matter where you go, try some of the local cuisine, and you’ll be amazed at how good it tastes. It’s not just food either; wine, beer, and spirits are all made locally, and they will all have a unique and distinctive flavor to them.
