ABPCO and CHS Group partner to create PCO specific education for the Conference and Hospitality Show 2017

The Association of British Professional Conference Organisers (ABPCO) has partnered with CHS Group to create association focused education alongside the Conference and Hospitality Show 2017 – being held in Leeds on Tuesday 4th April.

ABPCO’s members are invited to attend a Round Table on Innovation facilitated by Professor Rhodri Thomas, who will discuss “absorptive capacity” and give a short presentation on recently published research conducted in the meetings industry. This will be a lively round table discussion about how individual organisations can embrace innovation and take a more innovative approach.

Heather Lishman, association director, ABPCO said: “Innovation is a key factor in everything that we do. It’s so important to bring innovation into our interactions with clients, fellow team members and suppliers to stay ahead of the curve in an ever increasingly competitive environment.”

Emma Cartmell, CEO, CHS Group said: “We have partnered with ABPCO to better understand the needs of their members and to ensure the show delivers. The Round Table debate is part of a comprehensive VIP package for their PCO members to ensure they get the very most out of the show experience.”

Professor Rhodri Thomas is Dean of the School of Events, Tourism and Hospitality Management, Leeds Beckett University. Until recently, he was a Board member of ABPCO. ‘Absorptive capacity’ is one of the most prominent ideas to emerge in management studies over the past two decades.  Research suggests that an ability to acquire and use knowledge from a diverse range of external networks leads to greater innovation and competitive advantage.
