Information has emerged from Dar es Salaam that the new management at Air Tanzania, under pressure from President Magufuli to part with the old ways and become a more efficient corporate entity, has taken steps to eliminate ticket fraud.
It is understood that effective next month will new reservation ticketing software be installed and ready to be used, aimed to avoid past mistakes over which former top managers were sacked and are being prosecuted.
When President Magufuli launched the first of six new aircraft which the government has ordered from Bombardier and Boeing (3 Bombardier Q400NG’s, two Bombardier CS300 and one Boeing B787), he left no doubt that things either improve at formerly moribund and debt ridden Air Tanzania or else, a directive echoed by his Transport Minister who repeated the same when introducing new board members to the public.
Meanwhile are plans shaping up to relaunch domestic destinations which, due to lack of aircraft were suspended while awaiting the delivery of a third Bombardier Q400NG in 2017, which will further boost seat capacity and allow the resumption of regional flights too.
