Alaska Airlines reveals 3 new nonstops from Silicon Valley

Alaska Airlines officially announced today the 3 new nonstop destinations for the Silicon Valley airport.

The airline is growing its footprint at Mineta San Jose International Airport and the Bay Area with its announcement today of nonstop service between San Jose and 3 new destinations for the airline.

Alaska will introduce daily service to Tucson, a new destination for Silicon Valley’s airport, beginning August 28, 2017, and will launch service to Austin with daily flights beginning August 28, 2017. The carrier is also initiating 4 flights daily to Los Angeles (LAX) starting September 20. With this announcement, Alaska will offer 19 nonstop destinations, the largest number of nonstop destinations among all SJC carriers.

“Our focus city of San Jose is a key part of our Bay Area growth strategy and allows us to focus on the unique needs of Silicon Valley residents, while bringing low fares and choice to everyone living in the Bay Area metropolitan area,” said John Kirby, Alaska Airlines’ vice president of capacity planning. “With this announcement, Alaska Airlines and Virgin America will serve 19 of the top 25 destinations for Bay Area travelers.”

Today’s announcement of the new San Jose flights, along with 10 new flights at San Francisco International Airport to be operated by Virgin America and Alaska, marks the single largest new market announcement in Alaska Airlines history.

“I thank Alaska Airlines for continuing to provide Silicon Valley business and leisure travelers with nonstop flights to prime destinations, both in the U.S. and Mexico,” said Mayor Sam Liccardo. “Alaska’s ongoing growth at SJC is impressive, and I thank CEO Brad Tilden and his management team for their investments in San Jose and their commitment to San Jose as a focus city.”
