Apolinary Tairo of Tanzania joins African Tourism Board

The African Tourism Board (ATB) is pleased to announce the appointment of Apolinary Tairo, a regular contributor to eTurboNews and senior journalist and editor, has joined the Board. He will serve as a member of the Board of Private Sector Tourism Leaders and on the Steering Committee.

New board members have been joining the organization before the upcoming soft launch of ATB taking place on Monday, November 5, at 1400 hours during World Travel Market in London.

200 top tourism leaders, including ministers from many African countries, as well as Dr. Taleb Rifai, former UNWTO Secretary General, are scheduled to attend the event at WTM.

Mr. Tairo has 25 years of experience in journalism in Tanzania and East Africa. He is a trained journalist specializing in reporting on tourism, the travel trade at hotels and lodges, ground tour handling, the airline industry, and tourism publicity through local and international media outlets.

He has traveled widely in Tanzania and East Africa for tourism development and wildlife conservation media programs and is working closely with the Tanzania Tourist Board (TTB) on media and marketing projects. Apolinary has visited leading wildlife parks in Tanzania, Kenya, Uganda, and Zanzibar Island.

Mr. Tairo currently writes for The East African weekly, a regional newspaper owned and published by Nation Media Group in Nairobi, Kenya, covering the 6 East African Community (EAC) member states of Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi, and South Sudan.

He has also participated and covered international, regional, and national tourism and travel exhibitions, among them, ITB Berlin, INDABA (Durban), KARIBU Travel and Tourism Fair (Tanzania), and KILIFAIR (Tanzania), among others.

Mr. Tairo has participated and planned media platforms for various international tourism conferences, including the Africa Travel Association (ATA) in Africa, IIPT (Africa), Travelers Philanthropy Conference (Tanzania), and other such travel and tourism interactive gatherings.
