Bahrain International Airport: New routes boost number of service destinations to 53

Bahrain Airport Company, the operator of Bahrain International Airport (BIA), today announced that several airlines have added 12 new routes, boosting the total number of destinations BIA serves to 53.

“These new routes offer travelers a wider range of destinations to choose from and reaffirm BIA’s position as a key aviation hub in the region,” Ayman Zainal, the chief commercial chief of the Bahrain Airport Company said.

Gulf Air – the flag carrier of Bahrain, headquartered in Muharraq, adjacent to Bahrain International Airport, has recently introduced eight new routes.

“Improvements being made to BIA’s facilities, infrastructure and services as part of the Airport Modernization Program have given airlines the confidence to expand their networks out of BIA,” Zainal added.

Bahrain Airport Company official expects the airport’s annual capacity to reach 14 million passengers after the opening of a new terminal building.
