Beverly Hills Celebrates The Year Of The Dog

everly Hills Conference & Visitors Bureau (BHCVB), in partnership with China International Culture Association (CICA) and Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei Associations for Cultural Exchanges, with the support of the Chinese Consulate of Los Angeles, will host its seventh annual Chinese New Year celebration at Saban Theatre on Sunday, February 11, 2018 at 2 p.m.

With the support of Delta Air Lines as the event’s official airline and sponsorship from Stefano Ricci and Two Rodeo Drive, the event will showcase 13 traditional acts. Performance highlights include: the Hebei Chang’an Golden Eagle Acrobatic Troupe demonstrating the Chinese yo-yo that blends opera, dancing, acrobatics and gymnastics, magic tricks by renown magician Li Yang, a vocal performance accompanied by the morin khuur (horsehead fiddle), a ten-person martial arts demonstration and more.

“We are so honoured to host this amazing showcase of China’s ancient culture every year,” states Beverly Hills Mayor Lili Bosse, adding: “We are a very diverse community and we welcome visitors from all over the world, but this time of year we pay special tribute to our Chinese friends.”

China remains one of Beverly Hills’ top feeder markets and the city is committed to catering to its Chinese visitors; many of the hotels and retailers have Mandarin speaking staff and the high concentration of luxury hotels, five-star service and amenities throughout its five square mile radius is attractive to those desiring a destination that is both welcoming and convenient.

“Our annual Chinese New Year event is one of the many ways that our city shows its appreciation to the People’s Republic of China for the friendship and commerce that is brought to Beverly Hills,” says Beverly Hills Conference & Visitor Bureau CEO, Julie Wagner.

In addition to the variety show, a “Charming Jing Jin Ji” photo exhibition will be on display that will introduce the Spring Festival culture, folk customs as well as economic and social development in the Tianjinand Hebei Province.

The events performances are curated by Director Rongwi Wang, famous for his work on major national cultural activities throughout China.

Hotels will also be celebrating the year of the Dog by promoting special overnight packages that entail red envelope amenities, in-room tea, plush slippers, a bus tour and more
