Celebrate summertime Mardi Gras where?

The high-energy Mardi Gras Festivale is taking over the Tyson Events Center immediately following the Big Parade.

Mardi Gras returns to Downtown Sioux City – yep in Iowa! – on Friday, July 6, with the 2018 Big Parade and Mardi Gras Festivale. Bring your family and friends and join in on all the fun beginning with the spectacular Big Parade at 6:00 p.m. and Mardi Gras Festivale to follow.

Join the FREE fun when the Big Parade kicks off at 6:00 p.m. The Parade starts on Iowa Street, heads west on 3rd Street, then south on Pierce Street., and ends at the Tyson Events Center parking lot. Tens of thousands of beads will be thrown into the crowds that line the streets – get your spot early!

Anyone who’d like to sign up their group or organization for the Big Parade can download an application form at The cost is only $65, and includes a box of Mardi Gras beads to throw. Special rates are available for non-profit organizations and additional boxes of beads are available for purchase.

This year’s theme is “Charlie Sioux’s Toon Time”. There will be handmade costumes decorated with feathers, sequins, and, jewels, straight from Louisiana.

Following the food and festivities, the party continues outside the Tyson Events Center, with FREE Zydeco music. And the night wouldn’t be complete without fireworks at dusk. This year’s fireworks show will be provided by Lantis. View the fireworks right from the Tyson Events Center parking lot; no need to leave the party!
