The curtains came down on the World Tourism Cities Federation, (WTCF), Los Angeles Fragrant Hills Tourism Summit on September 20, 2017 at Universal Studios Hollywood.

Hundreds of guests, including mayors of WTCF member cities, principal staff of the WTCF Secretariat, representatives of WTCF city and institutional members, representatives of tourism businesses and the media attended the closing ceremony.

Song Yu, secretary-general of the WTCF, opened the ceremony, which was presented under the theme: “Impact of Globalization on World Tourism City Development.”

The event included the LA Declaration of the WTCF and in-depth discussions on promoting world tourism, including inclusive development.

He thanked LA and delegates for their support and attendance and presented souvenirs to the representative of LA, Patti MacJennett, senior Vice President of Business Affairs at LA Tourism & Convention Board.

MacJennett expressed gratitude for the success of the summit and presented souvenirs to Song Yu in return.

MacJennett then handed the WTCF flag back to Song Yu who then handed it to Luan Xin, Deputy Mayor of Qingdao, the hosting city of 2018 Fragrant Hills Tourism Summit.

Luan, in accepting the flag, said that Qingdao has both natural beauty and unique history which results in a landscape that is both Chinese and European in its charm.

He emphasized that Qingdao will make full preparations for the upcoming 2018 WTCF Fragrant Hills Tourism Summit to offer first-class services, including accommodation, catering, meeting, transportation, telecommunication and security.

The World Tourism Cities Federation, (WTCF), which was voluntarily formed by famous tourism cities and tourism-related institutions in the world under the initiative of Beijing, is the world’s first international tourism organization focusing on cities. Established on September 15, 2012 in Beijing, and guided by the core vision of Better City Life through Tourism, the WTCF provides services to its members that cover the entire tourism industrial chain. It aims to facilitate exchanges and cooperation among members.

The annual Fragrant Hills Tourism Summit is the WTCF’s major platform to promote communication and cooperation among world tourism cities and is in its sixth year.
