Danang Tourism boosts Hong Kong market

The Danang tourism industry is eyeing the potential of the Hong Kong market in 2018 and aims to boost further actions for sustainable development besides its recent strong markets of China and Korea.

Statistics by the Tourism Department showed that for the first 6 months of 2018, 7,193 Hong Kong visitors arrived to Danang and witnessed a jump from 11,046 visitors in 2016 to 14,903 visitors in 2017. It is reported to have increased 35% from last year.

Mr. Johnny Li, Managing Director Gateway Group Limited in Hong Kong, opined: “Danang has recently emerged as an attractive destination for foreign visitors. The recent Danang tourism presentation has helped Hong Kong travel agencies gain an in-depth look into luxurious accommodation services as well as the developing MICE market in Danang.”

Mr. Li, together with other 20 representatives from tour and MICE companies of Hong Kong who had just visited Danang in a FAM trip, acknowledged the 5-star services and beauty of the city with a memorable experience of “Han Market,” a welcome theme provided by Furama Resort Danang. They also inspected the beach front at the Ariyana Convention Centre – the biggest ballroom of Vietnam that welcomed 15,000 delegates who participated in the APEC Economic Leaders’ Week 2017, and they breathed the fresh air of Son Tra peninsula, Ba Na Hill, and Marble Mountain, or swung a golf club at Montgomerilinks and BRG courses.

Mr. Nguyen Duc Quynh, Deputy General Director of Furama Resort Danang, addressed: “New direct flights with just nearly a 2-hour trip, is making Danang a more popular choice for Hong Kong tourists. What we should do is to take advantage of these fights, overhaul further actions such as doing a road-show, and spreading the beauty images of Danang to the market to boost this sector.”

Earlier in June, the Danang Tourism Department, Furama Resort Danang, along with airlines and local businesses participated in the 32nd International Travel Expo and the 13th MICE Travel Expo in Hong Kong (ITE & MICE Hong Kong 2018), providing an excellent chance to facilitate a Hong Kong and Danang business exchange, thus contributing to promote Danang tourism to the Hong Kong market and exploit more tours from Hong Kong to Danang. Located at the gateway of three UNESCO cultural heritage sites and endorsed with diversified tourism resources, Danang has become a popular destination, well-known for its safety, as well as the hearty and friendly local community.

Recently, China and Korea make up more than 70% of the Danang tourism market. To increase Hong Kong tourists will create a better market mix and sustainable development.
