Destination India sets major diaspora event

The 14th Pravasi Bhartiya Divas (PBD) will be held in Bengaluru, the capital of Karnataka in southern India, from January 7 to 9, 2017.

Among the topics to be discussed at this gathering on non-resident Indians and People of India Origin will be how to accelerate tourism in India and to make India a destination for health care.

Both President Pranab Mukherjee and Prime Minister N. Modi will address the delegates from all over the world.

On January 5 and 6, the GOPIO – Global Organization of People of Indian Origin – will hold its meeting, also in Bengaluru.

On January 7, the focus will be on youth.

The PBD has become a major event for the diaspora, where the states try to get the NRIs to invest to help job creation and development, and nurture cultural and social contacts.
