Every square meter of the city of Dresden, capital of Saxony in Germany, is steeped in history and stirring tales. It is a city of contrasts – Classical and modern, vibrant and tranquil. In April 2017, Dresden will open a new concert hall for the Dresden Philharmonic in the completely converted Kulturpalast. Protected as a historic monument, the shell of the original 1969 building, including its “The Path of the Red Flag” mural, has been preserved, uniting history and the modern world in one beautiful venue.
The centerpiece of the 87.5 million euro project is its terraced concert hall and organ which live up to the highest acoustic and visual international standards. It will be able to host 1,800 attendees.
New neighbors include the time-honored Herkuleskeule cabaret revue featuring biting political satire with 250 seats, as well as the Dresden Public Libraries housed within an architecturally-historical monument.
