European Flight Academy begins basic training for Lufthansa Group pilots

The Lufthansa Group has once again started training pilots for the airlines that are part of the corporate group, now offering a high-quality training program under the brand name European Flight Academy with the aim of opening the door to the cockpit of one the Group’s airlines to successful graduates. The first course based on the new training concept began on February 2, 2017, with 23 aspiring pilots for Austrian Airlines.

The road to entering a training program at the European Flight Academy starts with a two-stage screening process that is the same for all applicants. The subsequent nearly 21-month training program is tailored perfectly to the requirements of Lufthansa Group airlines as they pertain to flight operations and ensures a uniform standard of quality across the entire Group. All those that successfully complete the basic pilot training program, which lasts nearly two years, will have excellent prospects for a career in the cockpit of one of the Lufthansa Group’s airlines where there is need of pilots.

The European Flight Academy consolidates the activities of the Lufthansa Group’s previous flight schools under one roof. The European Flight Academy’s program is built on proven training platforms at the German locations of Bremen, Frankfurt am Main, and Rostock-Laage; Zurich and Grenchen in Switzerland; and Goodyear, Arizona, and Vero Beach, Florida, in the United States.

The European Flight Academy offers regular informational events where anyone interested in a career as a pilot can learn about the requirements and subject matter of the Lufthansa Group’s new training concept.
