First Electro Parade in North America will march through streets of Montréal

As part of the celebration of Montréal’s 375th anniversary, evenko and MEG Montréal are proud to announce the holding of the very first Electro Parade in North America.

This event, which is part of the official programming of Montréal’s 375th celebrations, will happen on September 2nd, 2017.

With the presentation of Electro Parade, Montréal will join a global trend that has notably won over Paris and Zurich, where similar events have taken place in the streets. Local and international DJs standing on parade floats equipped with state-of-the-art sound systems will wander through the streets of Montréal, where countless dancers will party to their electronic beats. The full programming, the names of the guest DJs and the route of the Electro Parade will be announced at a later date.

“In the fall of 2017, DJs will take over Montréal, quickening the city’s pulse and transforming its streets into a dancefloor. Electro Parade will inspire Montrealers to let their bodies become one with the music, right in the middle of the urban landscape,” explained Serge Postigo, Assistant Commissioner for Montréal’s 375th celebrations. “Electro Parade is the perfect opportunity for the people of Montréal to express their liveliness and thus the liveliness of their city.”

“It’s a well-known fact that Montrealers are always present when an interesting cultural experience is offered to them. I welcome MEG Montréal and evenko’s project, which will encourage citizens to make the public space their own and to discover new beats,” added M. Denis Coderre, Mayor of Montréal.

“The Gouvernement du Québec is happy to support the Electro Parade, which will be an opportunity to celebrate while highlighting local electronic music talents. This all-ages event will boost Montreal’s image as an avant-garde city,” said M. Martin Coiteux, Minister of Municipal Affairs and Land Occupancy, Minister of Public Security, and Minister responsible for the Montréal region.

“Parades of this type have had tremendous success in European cities. With Electro Parade, we hope to create a huge festive gathering for the people of Montreal and the rest of Quebec, as well as tourists visiting us to celebrate the 375th anniversary of the city,” concluded Jacques Aubé, Executive Vice-President & Chief Operating Officer, evenko.
