First Moroccan travel company awarded ‘Travelife’ sustainability certification

Orion Trek Voyages, a destination management company (DMC) based in Agadir, Morocco, was awarded ‘Travelife’ Sustainable Tourism certification at the World Travel Market (WTM) in London, making it the first company in Morocco to receive certification.

Nikki White, Head of Destinations of ABTA, handed out the Travelife awards to companies from four different continents at an awards ceremony held at the WTM. The awards are in recognition of the long-term efforts and front-runner position of the companies regarding sustainability and Corporate Social Responsibility.

Mr. Naut Kusters, GM of Travelife for tour operators:

“I am delighted to see that sustainability in the tour operator sector is gaining momentum in all continents. The awards to companies from four different continents shows that sustainability in the Travel sector is obtaining a global momentum. These front-runners are already inspiring other companies in their region to follow the same path.”

In order to attain ‘Partner’ level certification, Orion Trek Voyages complied with more than 100 criteria, related to office management, product range, international business partners and customer information. The Travelife standard covers the ISO 26000 Corporate Social Responsibility themes, including environment, biodiversity, human rights and labour relations; and is formally recognized as in full compliance with the UN supported Global Sustainable Tourism Criteria.
