The accident occurred on a highway that connects the city of Guantanamo with the town of Baracoa.

Witnesses said the bus, that belonged to the company Via Azul, overturned while the driver was trying to overtake another vehicle. The driver said he was driving at a slow speed, but lost control because the roadway was wet along the curvy road.

The injured suffered mainly fractures and bruises.

Specialists with the interior ministry are leading an investigation into the cause of the accident.
