Happy 99th birthday KLM

Known as the Dutch national carrier, KLM Royal Dutch Airlines on October 7 will celebrate 99 years becoming the only airline in the world to reach this milestone. Since 1919, KLM has continued operating under its original name, making it one of a kind in the aviation industry.

KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, legally Koninklijke Luchtvaart Maatschappij N.V., is the flag carrier airline of the Netherlands. KLM is headquartered in Amstelveen, with its hub at nearby Amsterdam Airport Schiphol. It is part of the Air France–KLM group, and a member of the SkyTeam airline alliance.

This special 99th birthday of an airline will be celebrated across all KLM establishments worldwide.

“For us, this is an occasion to thank our customers for their continued loyalty over the years. Our customers are at the heart of our business and we take care of them with special attention and passion. This is what makes us different,” Said Jean – Noel Rault, General Manager

He added, “For the past 99 years, we have been flying customers from all over the world and creating beautiful memories across generations. We have brought Europe and the rest of the world closer to our customers in India with our partnership with Jet Airways. Together we offer 31 weekly flights to Amsterdam, connecting from 45 Indian cities. We look forward to the coming year and our 100th anniversary, making us the only airline in the world to celebrate a centenary”

KLM carried a record 32.7 million passengers in 2017, offering its passengers direct flights to 165 destinations with a modern fleet of more than 160 aircraft. The airline employs a workforce of more 32,000 people worldwide. The KLM Group as a whole transported more than 41 million passengers in 2017. In addition to KLM, the KLM Group includes KLM Cityhopper, Transavia and Martinair. The KLM network connects the Netherlands with all of the world’s key economic regions and is a powerful engine driving the Netherlands’ economy.
