Heathrow and Sadiq Khan unite to show #LondonisOpen

The Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan

The Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, has hailed a bold display of #LondonisOpen artwork newly on show at Heathrow. The now-iconic David Shrigley art will be featured at the airport over the next six weeks.

The first Heathrow #LondonisOpen campaign, worth an estimated £200,000 of advertising space, has been donated by the airport to the Mayor’s campaign to show that London is united and ready to welcome the world, for both business and leisure.

Almost ten million passengers from across the world will see the artwork as they make their way through Heathrow, including over the busy Easter travel period.

The new artwork was launched at Heathrow on Monday by Deputy Mayor for Culture and Creative Industries, Justine Simons and Heathrow Chairman Lord Deighton.

Heathrow Chief Executive John Holland -Kaye said:

“Heathrow’s global connections help make London a world city. Our support for #LondonIsOpen will show millions of international passengers that London is the best place in the world to visit, to do business and to live. ”

The Mayor of London Sadiq Khan said:

“I’m delighted that Heathrow has joined with us to show millions of passengers from across the world that London Is Open. We’ve been spreading our message of welcome ever since the referendum, and now more than ever it is vital that we unite behind that. London remains the best place in the world for business and tourism, and it will stay that way.”
