Hong Kong Tourism remains open and safe, while new protests emerge quickly

Hong Kong Tourism Board in cooperation with MTR is working around the clock to assure a smooth travel experience for those visiting the City of Lights. The message to visitors: Tourism in Hong Kong is open for business, but take your phone, and download our APP.

As reported by eTurboNews the time to visit Hong Kong is now. The city appears to be safe and ideal to explore since rates are lower, hotels less crowded, and HKTB took the leadership to guide tourists accordingly.

The ongoing conflict in this special administrative region of China is not targeting the visitors’ industry, and all sides are sensitive and keep re-assuring this to their foreign guest.

It seems a world apart, protesters today are quick to adapt to changing circumstances. Even though demonstrations were not authorized for Saturday, some leaders were arrested, it only took a  short the time from the adoption of a good tactic by outliers to its full integration by the masses to move ahead anyway.

A reader in Hong Kong said on his twitter: Changing my profile pic to HongKong’s protest emblem to show solidarity for a rally to take place today. Arresting and harassing prominent figures and activists will not work, nor would it end the pro-democracy movement. It did not work in Taiwan during martial law.

Another tweet commented to a post about key Hong Kong protest organizer attacked by armed masked men, referring to undercover police officers or Chinese agents: “Why do we only read about this and not about the attacks on police and their families by well organized and well-funded rioters?”

It appears protesters today on Saturday are targeting Hong Kong Island, while Kowloon is expected to remain quiet.

Adapting to his situations within minutes the Hong Kong Tourism Board is quick to take the lead and suggests to visitors:

“Due to possible public events this afternoon on Hong Kong Island, there may be crowd control and other special arrangements at the MTR stations along the Island Line. This includes Central, Admiralty, Wan Chai, and Causeway Bay, including closing station entrances and exits, trains not stopping at certain stations or station closures. Visitors are advised to check the MTR website  for the latest information, or check with the station staff.”

The official Hong Kong Tourism Board website  www.discoverhongkong.com is already looking at Sunday in asking visitors to arrive at the airport three hours early.

HKTB states:  “Traffic to Hong Kong International Airport may be busy due to a public event on the afternoon of September 1. Access control measures will be enforced at terminals. Visitors are advised to allow extra time to get to the airport, arriving three hours before departure for proper checks.   =
