Huge quake strikes Peru

The 6.3 magnitude earthquake struck the south of the Peru, close to Lake Titicaca, at 5.40 pm local time – 10.40 pm GMT – today.

The epicenter was located 28 miles northwest Juliaca town at a shallow depth of 19.9 miles. The shallower the depth, the stronger the quake feels and the potential to cause more damage.

The earthquake occurred close the border with Bolivia in the Andes mountain range.

So far there have been no reports of deaths, injuries, or damage.
