Hurricane Matthew: Will it devastate Florida today?

CNN calls the storm unpredictable.  The Nation Hurricane Center reportHurricane Matthew moving parallel to and just offshore of the east coast of Florida. Winds are coming in 60 mph and the major category storm speed is 120 mph.

Not directing hitting the Florida coast  and remaining parallel would prevent billion of Dollars in damages.It appears this is in fact the case except for a small land- hit close to Cape Canaveral.

It remains to early to tell, but after declaring an emergency in Florida, authorities, tourists and locals are concerned.

Hurricane Matthew already  battered the Florida coast with powerful winds, potentially devastating storm surges and torrential rain on Friday, leaving hundreds of thousands without power as those remaining in the storm’s path were ordered to shelter in place.

The western eye wall of Matthew brushed by Cape Canaveral, home of the Kennedy Space Center, producing wind 115 mpg gusts there at around 5:30 a.m. on Friday.

More than 300,000 people were already without power across the state of Florida.
