Alain St.Ange, the Seychelles candidate for the post of Secretary General of the UNWTO (United Nations World Tourism Organisation) has received another major endorsement. The largely influential and respected NRI Welfare Society of India invited Alain St.Ange, the Seychelles former Minister responsible for Tourism, Civil Aviation, Ports and Marine to be Guest of Honour at their 36th International Congress which was held in Delhi from the 24 to the 28 January.
Alain St.Ange was invited to address the International Congress in the presence of the Speaker of the Indian Parliament, Ministers, MPs and a number of influential leaders of Indian Society.”I am today a candidate for the position of Secretary-General of the United Nations World Tourism Organisation, the UNWTO. I come from the world of tourism and have led a successful tourism industry as Minister in Seychelles. I worked with neighbors and with the Community of Nations for the one tourism industry we have. With me at the United Nations, you will have a leader, but you will also have a friend who will be by your side always” said Alain St.Ange before announcing that he intends to have a UNWTO Office right here in Delhi.
Mr. St.Ange explained key points from his Statement of Intend now handed over to the UNWTO Headquarters in Madrid as part of his official candidate documents.

Welfare Society then used their own addresses to call on Members of the Society to support Alain St.Ange and to call on MPs and Ministers to ensure their countries vote St.Ange for Secretary General of the UNWTO.
In the final evening dinner for the 36th International Congress of the NRI Welfare Society Alain St.Ange was presented with an official letter of endorsement duly signed by Deepak Singh, the Convenor, Gurinder Singh, the Secretary General, Vijay Sood, the Chief Co-Ordinator and Abhishek Kumar, the Co-Ordinator.
In their letter of endorsement, they write:- “It is with Great Pleasure we have come to know that you are standing for the post of Secretary General of the Inited Nations World Tourism Organisation. We support you and Indians all over the Globe are with you in this endeavor”.
The NRI Welfare Society is set up to promote unity, progress, friendship and co-operation and they presented their letter of endorsement to Alain St.Ange to loud applause.
Speaking to the press after receiving the endorsement letter, Mr. St.Ange said that he is humbled by the show of support. “Today as I delivered my address in the presence of the Speaker of the Indian Parliament, Ministers, MPs and the long list of leaders I called for India to support my bid to the UN as Secretary General of the UNWTO. Tonight I receive this letter of endorsement approved following the 36th International Congress of the NRI Welfare Society. I am overjoyed as this is a great boost to my bid” said Alain St.Ange.
The Seychelles Candidate has already received Letters of Endorsement from the Indian Ocean Vanilla Islands Organisation (Comoros, Mayotte, Madagascar, Mauritius, Reunion and Seychelles}, the Africa Ports Association of Eastern and Southern Africa, the Seychelles Hospitality and Tourism Association (SHTA) and the Seychelles Hindu Kovil Sangam and said that he is set to receive more endorsements in the coming days from different parts of the world.
