International Tourism Investment Conference launch: Two key partnerships key to success?

The soft launch for the International Tourism and Investment Conference (ITIC) had its soft launch Friday night, November 2, 2018 at the Intercontinental Park Lane Hotel in London.

Two days before the opening of the World Travel Market this event was a celebration of known leaders in the world of tourism coming together and announcing a partnership for investments, crisis management and showing leadership.

Under the chairmanship of former UNWTO Secretary-General Taleb Rifai ITIC joined a partnership with the Resilience and Crisis Management Foundation, an initiative started under the leadership by Jamaica’s minister of tourism Hon. Edward Bartlett. Bartlett had managed to lobby for this foundation tireless ever since he hosted a UNWTO conference in Montego Bay in 2017. He succeeded to get the attention, support, and now vice chairmanship by H.E. Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca, the president of Malta.

The third party brought into this partnership by the Malta president and the Malta Minister of Tourism Konrad Mizzi, who also spoke at the soft launch event in London last night,   is the Mediterranean Global Centre.

Other board members and speakers included Ms. Isabell Hill, Director National Tourism Office, United States Department of Commerce and the Hon. Najib Balala, minister of tourism and wildlife for Kenya.

Mr. Saleh Said, managing director of Pennyroyal, a Zanzibar initiative by the private travel and tourism industry brought a hands-on and refreshing perspective to the soft-launch event.

Master of ceremony Anita Mendiratta said the event was a taste of how the investment conference in a year will bring a different view on tourism investments.

Ibrahim Ayoub is the Chief Executive Officer of ITIC.

Many delegated will attend the soft launch of the African Tourism Board on Monday at 2.00pm in Room 4, North Gallery at the World Travel Market. Click here for more information.
