The hotel has invested and participated in several CSR activities over the last year. Team members were actively involved in local clean-up projects. As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility towards environmental management the Emirates Environmental Group recognizes the importance of metal can collection campaigns. Hotel managers and staff members were awarded a Certificate for EEG Can Collection for the 1017 kg of cans collected in 2017. Furthermore, in appreciation of their efforts, the team was invited to plant three local Ghaf trees in the Fujairah Tree Plantation. Staff members also assisted with cleaning up sections of open beach near the property as part of the Clean Up The World Campaign organized by the Dubai Municipality. Mercure Hotel Suites & Apartments were presented with a Certificate of Appreciation by the Dubai Government for their environmental protection efforts.

Effective resource management continues to be a main priority. The installation of LED panels in back of house areas has resulted in a saving of AED 30,635.25 per year. Two solar lights were also installed replacing 23 conventional lights in outdoor areas and increasing the number of solar lights in parking lots is planned for the future.

A new communication strategy has been launched to encourage staff members to act responsibly when they consume daily meals. Think-Eat-Save is the motto for the thought provoking No Bin Day that has been introduced to reduce the generation of food waste. Every Thursday, all waste bins are removed from the cafeteria and everyone is encouraged to fill their plates carefully and avoid leaving any food leftovers.

Mercure Hotel Suites & Apartments competed against all other Dubai hotels in the Innovative Waste Management Competition. The team worked on several successful groundbreaking models made of waste and scrap materials and were awarded a Star of Waste Management for Best Waste Management and Reduction Practices.
