Michael Brill takes Office as New Managing Director at Düsseldorf Congress Sport & Event

Since 1 October Michael Brill has acted as the new Managing Director at Düsseldorf Congress Sport & Event (DCSE). Together with board spokesman Hilmar Guckert he will be managing the company from now on assuming responsibility for the market segments “Live-Entertainment and Sports”.

“In Michael Brill we have succeeded recruiting an extremely experienced manager. He is a household name in the meetings industry and boasts excellent international connections. He is familiar with the European, American and Asian event markets and has co-developed and shaped numerous venues. His longstanding experience in the management and strategic development of venues such as König-Pilsener-ARENA in Oberhausen qualifies him for his position at DCSE,” says Helga Leibauer, Chairwoman of the Supervisory Board of Düsseldorf Congress Sport & Event.

“I look forward to my new, exciting task at DCSE,” says Michael Brill, Managing Director at Congress Sport & Event. “The big portfolio of top-class venues, the good infrastructure and accessibility make Düsseldorf an attractive, high-potential destination. We want to leverage this in future even better and bring more top-notch, live entertainment events to the city. Together with partners we also want to create innovative event formats and scout tomorrow’s trends.”

For over 20 years now the business studies graduate worked for SMG, the US multi-national venue operator. Since 2013 Brill acted as SMG’s Senior Vice President for New Business Development in charge of operations on the European mainland. Before that he served SMG as Regional Vice President for Mainland Europe (2007 to 2013) and as a Managing Director of SMG Entertainment Deutschland GmbH (2000 to 2007).

As a Managing Director Michael Brill shaped the König-Pilsener-Arena in Oberhausen from the groundbreaking ceremony, making it one of Germany’s most successful arenas with 80 live entertainment events each year. He also had a decisive share in developing various projects such as the Wroclaw Stadium, the sports hub Singapore or in operating the open-air stage Loreley, to name but a few.

The course for re-positioning the company was charted at an extraordinary meeting of the supervisory board of Düsseldorf Congress Sport & Event GmbH this January.
