Since 2011, Green Globe certification has been awarded annually at each property following detailed audits based on more than 380 compliance indicators. Criteria include environmental protection, energy and water conservation, social responsibility, employee sustainability and detailed education programs.

Major investments have been made in the latest energy and water saving technology and state-of-the-art waste management as well as comprehensive actions to nurture unique environmental and cultural elements at each hotel.

Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts in Jordan enjoy remarkable locations. The Mövenpick Resort & Spa Dead Sea is an internationally acclaimed resort based on the northern shore of the lowest point on Earth, the Dead Sea. The resort’s architectural design makes optimum use of natural lighting and cooling to minimize energy consumption. To reduce heating, cooling, lighting and water usage, new technology has been utilized including a STP and solar hot water system. Two energy efficient chillers will also be installed in the near future.

Overlooking the calming waters of the legendary Red Sea is the architectural celebration of European and Arabesque design, the Mövenpick Resort & Residences Aqaba. The resort has various environmental and social initiatives planned for 2018 and beyond. Solar panels are being installed to reduce diesel consumption while staff training in energy saving and waste management will be further enhanced and developed. The resort supports charitable efforts in their community and will continue their Soap for Hope initiative to assist people in need. Protection of local coral reef and marine life is another priority and the resort is a member of The Royal Marine Conservation Society of Jordan (JERDS) and The Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE).

Mövenpick Resort & Spa Tala Bay is a striking contemporary hotel nestled in a dramatic seashore setting on the Red Sea. Every year, the resort participates in global events including Cleanup the World and Hands Across the Sand as part of its commitment to keep the beach clean, protected and safe. To raise environmental awareness, guests are encouraged to act responsibly through initiatives such as a linen reuse programs and throwing waste into designated colored bins at the beach. Furthermore, the hotel runs tours of the organic garden and back of house areas where guests can observe hotel operations up close. As guests visit different areas of the property, individual departmental heads discuss their section’s role and actions taken to support sustainability.

Enjoying one of the most impressive locations in Jordan, at the entrance of the historic city of Petra, is the Mövenpick Resort Petra. The resort’s sustainability plans address environmental concerns and practices such as energy saving, recycling, use of biodegradable products, efficient water usage and waste management. In line with its communications strategy, the resort’s Environmental Policy and Sustainability Management Plan for 2018 detailing green practices are available on the resort’s website.
