New Delhi hotel institute gathers alumni

The Banarsidas Chandiwala Institute of Hotel Management and Catering Technology (BCIHMCT) in New Delhi, India, held an alumni meeting where approximately 100 former students connected with their alma mater.

BCIHMCT organized the alumni meeting on August 18, 2018. Around 100 students from previous batches of graduates turned up to reconnect with their alma mater. The former students were welcomed by Director Dr. Bhupesh Kumar, Dy. and Director of Administration Mr. Pradeep Gupta along with Academic Head Dr. Sarah Hussain as well as all the faculty members and the current final year students.

An election to elect various posts of the Alumni Association was conducted, and Mr. Varun Balwani was elected as the President, Mr. Sahil Rampal was elected as Vice President, Mr. Manish Malhotra (alumni cum faculty) was elected as Gen. Secretary, Mr. Sumit Gulati and Mr. Siddhartha were elected as Joint Secretaries, and Ms. Reshma Kamboj (alumni cum faculty) was elected as Treasurer. Mr. Sushant, Mr. Chetan Chauhan, Mr. Nitin Sharma, Ms. Neha Sahni, Mr. Sahil Arora, Mr. Devender, Mr. Gaurav Mitra, Mr. Siddharth Lohani, Mr. Apurv Sareen, and Mr. Utkarsh Bhalla were elected as board members.

Dr. Bhupesh Kumar, Director of BCIHMCT, walked through the happenings of the previouos year and talked about the new initiatives, improved college rankings (no. 1 Private Hotel Management College in North India), expectations from the alumni, and the need to carry forward the legacy of BCIHMCT.

A cultural program comprised of folk dances and a band performance enthralled the audience which was followed by a gala lunch. The former students also spoke to the current students about their experiences with the college and their early lives working in hotels.

The Alumni Association will move forward with regular meetings and will make their own agenda to escalate the standards of BCIHMCT.
