New Wyndham Cruises ship launches future of Gold Coast cruising

The Gold Coast cruising scene has been revitalized with the addition of a brand new vessel to the city’s magnificent waterways.

Local company Wyndham Cruises has officially launched its multi-million-dollar, purpose-built dining vessel aptly named the ‘Spirit of Elston’.

Wyndham Cruises general manager Dean Griffin said it’s the first of its kind on Gold Coast waters.

“The boat has been customized from the inside out, purposefully designed for on-board dining and structured to fit under Gold Coast bridges, which showcases the best views of the Surfers Paradise skyline,” Mr Griffin said.

Brought to life by Gold Coast designer Karen Nielsen, the boat’s interior emulates a modern-chic, nautical theme, with features including a marble bar, handmade décor and sleek wooden flooring.

The upper deck reflects a relaxing, garden atmosphere with astroturf, lounges and a pop-up bar.

Catering for up to 200 passengers (150 on the upper deck), the ‘Spirit of Elston’ adds a new dimension to the Gold Coast sightseeing and cruise scene.

Daily departures include a morning sightseeing cruise, buffet lunch cruise with local trawler prawns, afternoon explorer cruise, and the new three-course a la carte dinner cruise, which commences on October 27.

Wyndham Cruises is a locally owned and family operated company. The ‘Spirit of Elston’ has replaced the company’s current vessel, the MV Entertainer, which has operated on the Gold Coast waterways since the 1980s.
