Pence’s campaign plane incident closes LaGuardia Airport

LaGuardia Airport in the New York City borough of Queens was closed tonight, after the plane carrying Donald Trump’s running mate, Republican vice presidential nominee, Mike Pence skid off the runway.

New York City’s official emergency notification system tweeted: “Due to a plane skidding off the runway, #LaGuardia is currently closed until further notice. Check with your airline for additional information.”

The eyewitnesses say that airplane was fishtailing as it touched down and sliding off the runway before coming to a very sharp halt in the grassy area off the side of the runway.

Rescue crews were responding to the scene. The incident happened during a rainy night in the city.

There were 37 people and eight crew members aboard the chartered aircraft.

All of the plane’s passengers, including Pence, and the crew were safely evacuated from the plane. No injuries were reported.
