Philippine Airlines plans charter service to Jeju Island

Philippine Airlines will launch a charter service next month to Jeju Island in South Korea.

The airline has filed an operational schedule for this Manila-Jeju service, scheduled to fly twice a week beginning on April 6 using an A320 aircraft.

There are currently more than 90,000 South Koreans in the Philippines (as of a 2011 population report recorded by South Korea’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade), and there are more than 45,000 Filipinos residing in South Korea.

Jeju is a popular tourist destination in South Korea, and is known for its beach resorts and volcanic landscape of craters and cavelike lava tubes. Hallasan Mountain, a dormant volcano, features hiking trails, a crater lake at the 1,950-meter summit and nearby Gwaneumsa Temple.
