Plane crash is a fiery blaze at Melbourne airport

A charter plane has crashed into the Direct Factory Outlet shopping mall near Essendon airport in Melbourne, Australia, with 5 people on board, reported the Victoria police. Ten fire trucks are fighting the blaze.

Debris from the crash has forced the closure of the Tullamarine Freeway and motorists are being urged by police to avoid the area.

Emergency services are on the scene, but there has been no report yet of fatalities.

The crash occurred at approximately 9 am local time at the airport in an area used mainly by light aircraft. The plane may have clipped a building, causing it to crash.
