On February 10, 2017, Ambassador Dho Young-shim, Chairperson of UNWTO ST-EP (United Nations World Tourism Organization Sustainable Tourism for Eliminating Poverty) Foundation & UN SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) Advocate and former GET Coordinator in Metro South District, Mr. Fadli Wagiet, revisited four UN SDG “Thank You Small Libraries (TYSL)” in Cape Town, South Africa. The purpose of the visit was to conduct an evaluation of the four TYSLs in Western Cape established in May 2011, having meetings with teachers and students at the libraries. The TYSLs were found in excellent condition with satisfactory records of attendance.
One hundred and eighty (180) TYSLs have been established around the world to date. In South Africa, four school libraries in Western Cape have been assisted; these four schools include Masivuke Primary and Siyazakha Primary in Philippi, Parkhurst Primary in Mitchell’s Plain and Levana Primary in Lavender Hill. Each of the schools received over 4,000 books, furniture such as tables and chairs, a computer and printer, various educational resources and stationery.

The UN SDGs TYSL project is aiming to eliminate the educational inequality and encourage learning ability of students in developing countries. UNWTO ST-EP Foundation continues to dedicate to supporting the educational materials for students and program for management and operation for the UN SDGs TYSL librarians.
