RwandAir launches Kigali-Harare service

Rwandan national airline, RwandAir, launched four times weekly service between Rwanda’s capital city of Kigali and Zimbabwe’s capital Harare.

The airline will fly between Kigali and Harare (via Lusaka) on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. The airline’s official said that the carrier is looking to increase the frequency next month and start offering day and night flights. RwandAir will use Next Generation 737-800 aircraft to service the route.

RwandAir’s move comes as another vote of confidence in Zimbabwe as a tourist destination.

Rwanda’s national carrier is already flying to 20 African destinations and plans for RwandAir’s Harare service were in the works for a few years now.

Recently upgraded Victoria Falls International Airport, commissioned in November 2016, has also attracted interest of several foreign carriers, with Ethiopian Airways, Kenya Airways and South African Airways all have launched or will launch later this year direct VFA service.
