Seychelles Tourism Board boosts ties with airline partners

The Seychelles Tourism Board (STB) has held a series of meetings with its major airline partners recently, aimed at boosting ties and seeking more marketing support for the destination.

The meetings took place at the world’s leading travel trade show, ITB, which was held in Berlin, Germany from March 8-12. 

A strong delegation from Seychelles led by the Minister for Tourism, Civil Aviation, Ports and Marine Maurice Loustau Lalanne represented the destination at ITB.

Also present at these meetings were the chief executive of the Seychelles Tourism Board (STB) Sherin Francis, the director for Europe Bernadette Willemin and the manager based in Germany Edith Hunzinger.

The first meeting was with representatives of Turkish Airlines – the general manager for Mauritius, Madagascar and Seychelles Fatih Mehmet Kursun and the vice-president of sales, sub-Saharan Africa Askin Cantimur.

They have pledge their support for certain key European markets and already have a few key marketing activities which have been laid out for the year.

Minister Loustau-Lalanne and the delegation also met Jens Boyd from Condor. Marketing activity plan was the centre of discussion.

Mrs Francis said she is satisfied with the extra marketing support on the German-speaking territories that Condor is giving STB.

There was also a courtesy meeting with Emirates’ vice-president, north and central Europe Volker Greiner and Ethiopian Airlines’ regional director for Austria and Eastern Europe Solomon Mekonnen both with the spirit to further support the destination.

Besides the meeting, the STB team attended a launch event hosted by Qatar Airways where a raffles was drawn and the prize won was a flight ticket to Seychelles from the airline and accommodation sponsored by Constance Ephelia Seychelles.
