The New York Times Travel Show, presented by American Express is the conference and exhibition for travel trade professionals and travel enthusiasts, gathering over 20,000 participants, the trade show features over 175 exhibitors from over 130+ countries from across the world.

Seychelles Tourism Board Director for Africa & the Americas, David Germain, was on hand to meet the media, travel trade and consumers during the exhibition at the Jacob K Javits Convention Center together with Mrs Lylie Moolman from Luxury Tour Operator Gilt-edge Ocean Islands which was a partner with the STB during the exhibition.

In addition, a “Destination Presentation & Dinner” was organized by Giltedge Ocean Islands at a Prime Restaurant in the center on New York, and the twenty agents invited had access to product and destination information about the Seychelles.

Mr. Germain said “Seychelles was the only country present from the Indian Ocean group of islands at this important tourism exhibition in the USA, which brings together important African Travel Specialists, in search of product and destination information about Africa and the Indian ocean islands, it is important to continue to promote our islands consistently in this very competitive part of the world” he said.

The STB is very much encouraged by the steady increase in visitor’s arrival from North America and has increased its marketing activities for North America in 2017, by including marketing activities in Canada as well; the STB will participate in both consumer & trade exhibitions and workshops as well in Canada and the United States during the year 2017.

For many years now, North American leisure travelers have associated Africa with one type of vacation: Safari, and the STB offers the North American travellers the add-on options which will allow them to experience other types of cultures to add to their African and Arabian experience.

Flights to and from North America to Africa are available with South African Airways and Ethiopian Airlines, with easy connections to the Seychelles.

Emirates Airline, Qatar Airways, Turkish Airlines and Etihad Airways also fly from North America with easy connections to the Seychelles, via their hub in the Middle East.
