Skal Asian Area Congress 2017: Bahrain selected

Skal has selected the Kingdom of Bahrain  as the venue for the Skal Asian Area Congress in 2017. The Congress will take place on 12 – 15 May 2017 and is being organized by the Skal Club of Bahrain.

Mohamed Buzizi, President of the Skal Club of Bahrain, is negotiating with hotels to secure the best rates for delegates. However, he confirmed to delegates attending the 2016 Asian Skal Area Congress in Singapore that the pricing would be set at US$800 for five star accommodation and US$600 for four star accommodation. The one-off fee will also cover Congress registration, meals and the traditional fund-raising Gala Dinner.

A detailed programme will be published in due course and the Skal Asian Area executive committee will be reviewing arrangements during its next board meeting, in Bahrain, in late November 2016.

The host club has, importantly, secured the support of the Bahrain Tourism and Exhibition Authority and the national carrier Gulf Air has pledged to provide a 30 percent discount on air fares for all delegates attending the Congress in May 2017.

The Kingdom of Bahrain sits at the western perimeter of the Skal Asian Area and was the venue for the Skal Asian Area Congress in the year 2000. The club was founded in 1972, shortly after Bahrain proclaimed independence. Bahrain had been a British protectorate since the middle of the 19th century.

Skal Asian Area embraces over 2,200 members in 38 Skal clubs stretching from Mauritius in the Indian Ocean to Guam in the western Pacific.
