Southwest Airlines to being 737MAX8 service

Southwest Airlines is following a worldwide market trend to replace ageing aircraft with new fuel-efficient airplanes.

The airline announced it will begin operation of its new Boeing 737MAX8 starting October 1 of this year.

In the first week of service, 9 of these new aircraft will start air service to over 20 cities that Southwest flies to in the United States. A 10th 737MAX8 will begin flying the week after that.

This particular aircraft will allow the airline to add lengthier flights to its schedule, as its efficiency means it can fly farther than the aircraft currently being used.
