Spirit Airlines names new Executive Vice President

Spirit Airlines announced today that Edward M. (Ted) Christie has been appointed to the position of Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. The move is effective immediately.

In this expanded role, Christie will continue running the finance side of the company, but will now take on the added responsibility for the airline’s commercial functions. In addition to his current finance team, Matt Klein, Senior Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer, will now report to Mr. Christie.

“Spirit’s Board and I are excited to bring Ted into this expanded role,” said Bob Fornaro, Spirit’s President and CEO. “His leadership and increased contributions in the revenue side of the business over the last couple of years has allowed the airline to grow and remain highly profitable.”

“I am proud to work for an airline focused on bringing affordable air travel to consumers,” said Christie. “I’m honored by this appointment and look forward to continued success for Spirit.”

Christie joined Spirit in 2012 as its Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. Prior to working at Spirit, Christie served as Vice President and CFO at Pinnacle Airlines and the same role for Frontier Airlines. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree in Finance from the University of Arizona.
