Thailand’s Assumption University signs MOU with Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau

President of the Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau believes a new bilateral agreement with Assumption University will facilitate the MICE industry in Thailand.

Assumption University’s department of hospitality and tourism management signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB).

Khun Nopparat Maythaveekulchai, President of TCEB, said, “This bilateral agreement with Assumption University will facilitate MICE curriculum development, provide textbooks, organize courses, and create opportunities for students and lecturers to exchange information and prepare future leaders to become MICE professionals and prepare for the implementation of the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC).”

TCEB is a public organization aimed at promoting, supporting, and developing the MICE industry in Thailand, helping to ensure Thailand becomes the MICE destination of choice for Asian and international business travelers.

“I feel sure that the together we will go from strength to strength over the next few years, and the signing of this MOU will mark a milestone in the relations between TCEB and Assumption University. It is only by working together that we can face the future with confidence, knowing that we are providing the best possible development to our future MICE professionals,” Khun Nopparat added.

Scott Michael Smith, Coordinator of Assumption University’s Event Management course, said: “This public private partnership (PPP) is the first of its kind for our department. Working with TCEB’s MICE capabilities department will provide educational opportunities and internship opportunities for students and teachers, and ushers in an era of cooperation between Assumption University, the first international university in Thailand.”
