The Marker in San Francisco appoints a new GM: Benjamin Duverge

The Marker, a boutique Joie de Vivre hotel located in San Francisco’s historic theater district, today announced the appointment of Benjamin Duverge as the general manager. Since joining the team, Duverge has implemented collaborations with non-profit organizations to support the local art and entertainment community, including an in-house art exhibit by ArtSpan in the hotel’s Living Room area, and Local Vocals during the hotel’s wine hour, a live music show for guests showcasing local singers. Duverge will be responsible for overseeing all hotel operations at The Marker and brings more than 14 years of hospitality industry experience, specializing in executive level leadership and driving tangible results in all areas of hospitality management.

“Benjamin’s global hospitality experience offers a fresh perspective in leading the success of our newest San Francisco property,” said Antoine Berberi, regional vice president of operations at Two Roads Hospitality. “Since joining The Marker, he has played a key role in establishing like-minded partnerships that support the local art and entertainment community.”

ArtSpan is a non-profit organization that partners with businesses, store fronts or empty spaces to display local art exhibitions, and Local Vocals is a show connecting guests with the vibrant soul of San Francisco by featuring rotating bands and musicians. These programs offer on-going entertainment for guests and a taste of San Francisco’s rich creative culture.

Prior to his role at The Marker, Duverge was the general manager for Viceroy Princes’ Island Istanbul and Viceroy Palm Jumeirah Dubai, where he was responsible for setting up extensive resort operation services for both properties.  Adding to his executive level experience, Duverge was the general manager for Hotel Zetta San Francisco, where he oversaw the closure, renovation, rebranding, and reopening, in addition to the operational and financial performance of the full-service lifestyle hotel in San Francisco’s SoMa neighborhood.

The Joie de Vivre hotel recently debuted eight spa suites, in addition to a new meeting space and the Bellevue Room ballroom, designed by San Francisco-based designer Ken Fulk.  Each spacious spa suite features enhanced bathrooms with soaking tubs, and guests also have the option to book an in-room spa treatment.  The Bellevue Room’s floor-to-ceiling windows offer views of the local Theater District, and striking chandeliers and refined colors and patterns add elegance to the new space.  The design of the spa suites and Bellevue Room will inspire the upcoming enhancements and amplify the Beaux Arts style of the building, while giving it a more modern appeal.  Additionally, The Marker features 208 newly renovated, vibrant and stylish guestrooms with playful amenities.

The charming hotel currently offers a warm and expressive ambiance that resonates throughout the property from the service to the design, celebrating the local culture.  Located in the heart of San Francisco’s Theater district, The Marker is surrounded by the city’s top theaters, restaurants, museums and shops.  Local artwork is also on display at the on-site restaurant – Tratto, a modern Italian trattoria serving rustic Italian fare and Italian-inspired cocktails – from resident artist Amos Goldbaum.  Goldbaum has created a variety of large landscape pieces for the restaurant that are inspired by the iconic vistas, streets and skylines of San Francisco.
