Tourist and local safety at center of security deployment in Uganda

Police units and other security service personnel have been deployed in not just Kampala, Uganda, but other urban centers across the country in order to assure locals and visitors from abroad of their safety over the upcoming holiday season.

The dedicated Tourism Police has also beefed up their presence around key tourism installations, national parks, safari lodges, and hotels to leave nothing to chance as tourists and locals alike get into the celebration mood.

At the same time, hotel owners and operators of shopping malls as well as churches in the country have been told to be extra vigilant to prevent any security incidents which might threaten the safety of the population.

Uganda is one of the safest countries to visit for foreign tourists, and over the recent long weekend in Kenya – the country celebrated its Independence Day on Monday, December 12 – there was a major inflow of visitors from Kenya, both expatriates and Kenyans.

New attractions are making waves across the tourism industry and adventure activities like zip lining have brought the country back into the focus of international travelers.
