Already serving the Hungarian capital from Paris Orly, Budapest Airport is delighted to announce that its airline partner Transavia France is further committing to the airport by adding a second route from next year. Launching 7 April 2019, the carrier will commence a twice-weekly summer seasonal service from Nantes, with flights expected to be flown on the carrier’s fleet of 189-seat 737-800s.
Transavia France’s announcement of launching non-stop services to Nantes means that for next summer, Budapest will offer direct flights to at least seven destinations in France, with Nantes joining existing services to Paris’ Beauvais, CDG and Orly airports, plus Bordeaux, Lyon and Nice. The market will also receive a further boost this coming winter season as Ryanair begins a twice-weekly service to Marseille. The result of Transavia France’s investment means it will increase seat capacity from Budapest next summer by 50%.

France is the fifth largest country market from Budapest, with over 693,000 passengers travelling directly between the Hungarian capital and the Western European country last year. Results for the first half of this year show that it is also a market showing strong growth, with passenger number between January and June 2018 up 5.2% versus the same period of 2017. Flights to Nantes will go on sale from 17 September. The airline’s Dutch unit – Transavia – also serves Budapest, offering flights from Eindhoven.
